The government will not allow anyone to illegally occupy state land in the province, said Sindh Revenue Minister Makhdoom Mehboob Zaman while speaking during the question-hour in the Sindh Assembly, on Tuesday.He said the Sindh government had launched action whenever any complaint was received by the authorities regarding illegal occupation of the state land.During the question-hour, Opposition legislators complained that portions of state land in different areas of Sindh worth billions of rupees had been under unlawful occupation as the provincial revenue service had been indifferent to this issue.Opposition leader Firdous Shamim Naqvi of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf said private land owned by different individuals were under illegal occupation as they were not willing to share information about the unlawful occupation.The revenue minister said they had taken action against any reported incident of illegal occupation and that the Opposition lawmakers in the house were also given opportunities to visit and verify actions taken by the government.He said a smart phone application was being developed to provide information to citizens regarding land record in the province. He said people could also get information from www.sindhzameen.gos.pk which is being run by the Sindh Board of Revenue.He said a mobile phone application had already been available for the purpose providing land record on the basis of taulkas in the province.CondemnationMeanwhile, the Sindh Assembly unanimously passed a resolution to condemn the recent incident of damage caused by the unidentified people to the Yadgar-e-Shuhuda monument of the Muttahida Quami Movement-Pakistan in Azizabad area.The resolution was moved in the house by MQM Pakistan’s legislator Rana Ansar. Speaking on her resolution, she said the incident had hurt sentiments of millions of people belonging to the Mujahir community.She said one should keep in mind that a similar monument was also present in Karachi at Karsaz to commemorate the memory of activists of the Pakistan Peoples Party who had laid down their lives on October 18, 2007.Another lawmaker of the MQM-P, Mohammad Hussain Khan, said the Shuhuda’s monument had been present in the city to keep the memory alive among the relatives of martyrs about the sacrifices rendered by their near and dear ones. He said the bereaved family members of the martyrs used to lay floral wreaths and pray for the departed souls at the Shuhuda’s monument in Azizabad.CommotionEarlier, the house witnessed scenes of commotion and uproar as the treasury lawmakers of the Pakistan Peoples Party protested against the use of certain “objectionable remarks” by Opposition leader Firdous Shamim Naqvi.When PPP lawmakers were exchanging greetings in the house over the release of senior party leaders who were earlier imprisoned, Naqvi said he was of the viewpoint that investigations should be completed all suspects. “How could I greet those who have been ruling in the country for the last twelve years as during their regime they have failed to provide literacy, water, education to people,” he said.Naqvi’s remarks received criticism of treasury legislators. During rumpus in the house, the treasury and Opposition legislators exchanged objectionable remarks with each other.
