Sindh to organise livestock expo in February

Keeping in view the importance of livestock and fisheries in meeting the food requirements, the Sindh government has decided to organise a livestock expo in the province in February 2020.The decision to this effect was made as Sindh Livestock and Fisheries Minister Abdul Bari Pitafi chaired a meeting on Thursday, which was also attended by the livestock secretary, ministers and secretaries for the departments of culture and agriculture, sports secretary, fisheries director general, livestock director general, and representatives of the police and finance department. The livestock minister said the livestock was an essential component of the human food requirement and the people in Sindh associated with the fisheries and animal farming needed to upgrade their professional skills as they were still employing old ways to earn their livelihood. He said the Sindh government would organise the livestock expo with the view to provide opportunity to people associated with this industry to improve their professional skills in order to make them abreast with the international trends prevailing in the livestock sector.Pitafi said the forthcoming expo would provide a platform to gather under one roof fishermen, farmers, breeders, veterinary doctors, researchers, pharmaceutical companies, vaccinators and professionals of other relevant sectors. He said the expo would enable these professionals to learn from each other’s experiences. The expo was being organised to promote the concept of food security as Pakistan was included in the countries facing the issue, he said.Sindh Agriculture Minister Muhammad Ismail Rahoo said the agriculture and livestock sectors were inter-related as both the areas relied on each other for their growth and progress. He said the progress of Sindh lied in the progress and development of both the agriculture and livestock sectors.
