Sectarianism has destroyed the very fabric of our society, says Maulana Tariq Jamil

Inaugurating a charity hospital in North Nazimabad on Tuesday, noted religious scholar Maulana Tariq Jamil urged all Muslims not to follow such people who create divisiveness in the community.“Religious hatred is the worst form of hatred. We have already suffered much because of sectarian conflicts,” he stressed, advising Muslims to “become a Momin [true believer] who is dear to the Almighty Allah and His Prophet peace be upon him”.“Sectarianism has destroyed the very fabric of our society. Muslims are issuing fatwas of kufr on other Muslims,” he lamented. “We must honour all human beings. In the past, nations were destroyed due to hatred. Only good deeds will help us in the afterlife.”The religious scholar urged Muslims to give up habits which are deemed unethical and unhealthy by Islam.The hospital has been built by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Hunaid Lakhani, who is also head of the Pakistan Bait-Ul-Mal in Sindh. It is named after his late father Hussain Lakhani.In his sermon at the ceremony, the religious scholar lauded Lakhani for establishing the hospital and for his other philanthropic activities.A number of PTI parliamentarians elected from Karachi, including Khurram Sher Zaman, Dr Saeed Afridi, Alamgir Khan, Shahzad Qureshi, Jamal Siddiqui, Izhar Ul Hasan Qadri, were in attendance along with Sindh director Bait-Ul-Mal Dr Adnan Majeed, cricketer Sarfaraz Ahmed and other dignitaries.
