Customs seizes Indian products at Port Qasim

Staff of the Pakistan Customs on Wednesday seized Indian-origin goods at Port Qasim. The spokesman for the customs said that action had been taken against Indian- origin imported goods in several cases by the Customs Collectorate of Port Qasim.The most recent case was made on December 16, 2019 which pertained to the attempted import of Indian-origin Dove body cream of Unilever by Lahore-based importer M/s KD Enterprises through their clearing agent M/s Fine Services.The goods weighing 4,752 kilograms have an import value of Rs1.5 million and applicable duty taxes of Rs1.8 million. The origin of the goods was declared as the European Union. However, during the examination of the said consignment, the goods were found to be of Indian-origin. Accordingly, the goods were seized and contravention and legal proceedings have been initiated for the violation of relevant provisions of the Customs Act, 1969. Further investigations are under way.
