Matric board registers 52 cheating cases

The vigilance teams of the Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK) on Friday registered 52 cases against students taking their matriculation examinations for using unfair means during the exams and confiscated 14 mobile phones from examinees.The cases were registered after the vigilance teams visited various examination centres for inspection and found out that many candidates were using unfair means to pass the exams.According to a statement issued by the BSEK, after observing cases of cheating during the exams, the high-ups of the board asked examiners to document such cases and send it to the BSEK’s complaint cell.On Friday, the science group students of grade 10 attempted their English paper while students of the arts group attempted their papers including Urdu Compulsory Normal Course, Easy Compulsory Urdu, and Geography of Pakistan.The vigilance teams nabbed 14 candidates as they were cheating during the exam at Senior Model School Shah Faisal Colony. Likewise 19 cases of unfair means were registered at the Government Boys Secondary School Saudabad, where the examiners also confiscated four mobile phones from the possession of students.An official caught 19 students at the Government Sajjad Lower Secondary School of Lasi Para, Baldia Town, who were cheating while answering their papers. He also seized 10 mobile phones from the candidates. Earlier this week, the board officials had termed the Government Sajjad Lower Secondary School of Lasi Para the worst examination centre where mismanagement was at its peak.
