COMMONS chiefs were last night refusing to allow Big Ben to bong for Brexit despite campaigners raising more than £125,000 towards reactivating the famous chime. Cash from more than 7,000 donors yesterday poured into an appeal set up to fund the maintenance required to make Westminster’s iconic bell, currently silenced by refurbishment work on Parliament’s Elizabeth Tower, ring as the UK leaves the EU at the end of the month.
