A school van carrying students caught fire in the Gulshan-e-Iqbal neighbourhood of Karachi’s District East on Thursday, but the driver managed to rescue all the children in time.According to the spokesman for the fire brigade, they received information about the fire at around 3:20pm, and a fire engine was immediately despatched to the scene in response.The spokesman said that all the children had been rescued from the burning van before the firefighters reached the site of the incident, adding that they put out the fire.Gulshan-e-Iqbal Station House Officer GhulamNabi Afridi confirmed that no student was hurt because they were fortunately rescued in time with the help of the vehicle’s driver.The police officer further said that though CNGcylinders were installed in the van, they were not the cause of the fire, as neither of the cylinders was damaged. He added that the fire was caused by a short circuit in the engine.
