The Pakistan Coast Guards (PCG) claimed on Wednesday to have seized a huge quantity of smuggled Iranian Diesel and other contraband items at the Naka Khari check-post on the RCD Highway near Windar in Balochistan, which is situated near the Sindh border.According to a spokesperson for the PCG, on special instructions of their director against the smuggling, the PCG intensified its efforts to curb the menace of drug trafficking.The spokesperson added that on credible information from intelligence resources regarding a smuggling bid of narcotics and contraband items through Windar on the RCD Highway, the PCG stopped five Mazda trucks at the Naka Khari check-post and found 46,250 litres of Iranian diesel concealed in them.The PCG officials also seized other contraband and smuggled items, including 2,980 kilogrammes of betel nut, 560 packets of Indian gutka, 385 packets of Naswar and 33 tyres of various vehicles.In Gwadar, the PCG also arrested a illegal Nigerian immigrant on account of illegal border-crossing. The individual was going from Turbat to Karachi without valid documents. The spokesperson said the value of the seized Iranian diesel and other contraband items was estimated at Rs33.28 million. Further investigations are under way.
