Leaders of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Sindh have said his party was and is against the idea of the division of the Sindh province, but the Pakistan Peoples Party is misleading the masses through poisonous propaganda. The PTI, especially its Sindh leaders, have been facing severe criticism from various quarters of the Pakistan Peoples Party, Sindhi intellectuals and civil society activists, after Federal Law and Justice Minister Farogh Naseem hinted at the possible invocation of Article 149 of the constitution in Karachi.Addressing a press conference in the Sindh Assembly’s conference room on Thursday, PTI provincial president Haleem Adil Shaikh said that under Article 149, the Federation would give directives to the Sindh government, so that it could work properly and deliver. “Under the article, we will make the Sindh government bound to resolve the issues of the province. But so far no recommendations have been made so far,” said Shaikh, who is the party’s parliamentary leader in the Sindh Assembly. He also said it was also not true that Prime Minister Imran Khan would announce implementing Article 149 during his coming visit to the metropolis. Opposition leader Firdous Shamim Naqvi and MPAs Khuram Sherzaman, Dua Bhutto and Shahnawaz Jadoon were also present at the press conference.Shaikh said that the party had just started its work to chalk out recommendations on how the problems of the entire province could be resolved. He said the committee would make recommendations not only for Karachi but also the province’s other cities, such as Hyderabad and Sukkur. “Article 149 is not a martial law. The PPP’s Sindh Card has lost its power now and the party is just misleading the province’s residents,” he said.Criticising the PPP for destroying the province through their massive corruption and bad governance, Shaikh said Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and its cabinet should resign over it. “Mega corruption has been done in uplift schemes of Karachi. The federal government has given Rs25billion for the K-IV project, but this project was stopped due to wrong planning,” he said.He said AIDS and hepatitis were spreading in Sindh due to inefficient and corrupt rulers. He said thousands of people went injured due to dog-bites in the province and the government had failed to protect them. He added that dog-bite vaccines were not available there. The PTI leader said the rulers of Sindh had not given water to the citizens of Karachi for the last 10 years. “In my constituency, there is even no drinking water available,” he said.He said Faryal Talpur was in jail due to curses of the neglected poor masses. “The rulers have made Karachi the fourth dirtiest city of the world. Hills of garbage are everywhere in Karachi. In these circumstances we have no other option left but to work ourselves,” he said. “When Karachi changes, Sindh will also change, and when Sindh changes, the whole Pakistan will change.”Naqvi, who is the opposition leader in the Sindh Assembly, said that during the last 12 years, the PPP’s provincial government had completely failed to deliver. “We have contacted the Sindh government many times, but it is not ready to work to resolve the issues of people,” he said.He asked why the Sindh government was not giving due share to districts on the pattern of the NFC award. He said that during the last 12 years the PPP government did not bring even a single public transport bus to Karachi. He said the Green Line project was delayed due to non-cooperation from the provincial government. He said the Sindh government had just failed to deliver. He said his party did not want the division of Sindh.
