Condemning the Indian government for banning the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) in Indian-held Kashmir, JI Azad Jammu Kashmir leaders in Karachi have said that the Modi government cannot stop the struggle of Kashmiris for liberation through its righthandedness approach.Sardar Hameed and Raja Sagheer, head and secretary of the JI AJK, Sindh and Balochistan regions respectively, said on Wednesday that banning the JI Jammu and Kashmir (JI J&K) showed that the Indian government had been afraid of the popular support of the party in the region. The JI AJK is a separate body of the religio-political party and it has branches across Pakistan. Mentioning the JI J & K’s contribution in political and social spheres of Indian held Kashmir, the JI AJK leaders said that the religious group has not only been supporting Kashmir’s cause on political front but also providing services to the residents in the fields of and education.“In the ongoing crackdown against the party in Indain-occupied Kashmir, over 300 educational institutions in the region have been shut down while dozens of offices have been sealed along with arrests of dozens of party’s cadres,” they said.“The Modi’s government has illegally banned the JI in the region,” the statement said. “India’s jingoism, its craze for supremacy in the region and the violation of the minorities are at their peak and any war on the pretext of the Pulwama incident is going to end up in India’s destruction.”On February 28, the Indian government declared the JI Jammu and Kashmir an “unlawful association” for a period of five years for activities “prejudicial to internal security and public order”.
