An anti-terrorism court sought on Wednesday the final charge sheet from police against a Pakistan Peoples Party-affiliated UC vice-chairman, his father and brothers in a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf MPA attack case.The ATC-VIII judge directed the investigation officer to submit the charge sheet by March 12 and issued notices to prosecution and defence for arguments on the suspects’ bail plea at the next hearing.PTI MPA from PS-109 Ramzan Ghanchi was shot injured on January 25 over a water dispute allegedly by UC-16 vice-chairman Ali Nawaz Soomro, his father Suleman Soomro and brothers, Shah Nawaz Soomro and another who is yet to be identified.According to the complaint lodged by Ganchi, he was in the Ghas Mandi neighborhood in the old city area when he was informed that some people were obtaining an illegal connection from the main water pipeline running through the area.“I reached the scene and inquired as to who allowed them to do so on which they [people on the scene] named Ali Nawaz. I forbade them and left. Meanwhile, I received a call from Ali Nawaz who asked us to come back.“Upon my return, Ali Nawaz started hurling profanities on me and said ‘Who I was to interfere in the matter’. During this, his father and brothers also emerged there and joined him in threatening me.“As I was coming out of my vehicle, they started firing on me; one of the bullets hit me in the leg and I fell to the ground. Then they started yelling that I should be put into the vehicle and set on fire. Meanwhile, my companions took me to hospital.”The MPA was brought to the court on a stretcher as the accused father and sons, who have obtained interim bail, also attended the hearing. The judge passing the directions to the police and lawyers from both sides adjourned the hearing until next week.The FIR of the incident was registered under sections 324 (attempt to commit murder), 430 (mischief by injury to works of irrigation or by wrongfully diverting water), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), 506-B (criminal intimidation) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code read with Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act at the Napier police station on the complaint of the MPA.
